As a member of an Australian Police Force I can say without hesitation that if this idiot had done the same thing in Australia she would have been chased, locked up overnight until she was sober, charged with a variety of offences and possibly would have recieved a greater punishment than she did in Thailand.
She left her brains behind when she packed for her holiday and makes me ashamed of Australians overseas.
We are guests when we go to places like Thailand and should behave as we expect guests to behave in our homes. A little commonsense never hurt anyone
Cancell her damn passport or maybe Thailand should put her and the other idiot farangs on a ban list and not let them back into Thailand

I’ve lived in Thailand for years, never once had a problem with a Thai and on the rare occasion I speak to a Thai police officer on the street, they’re nothing but pleasant, smiling and helpful.

This one is a disgrace to Australia and to farangs in general. So many of us are sick of the trailer trash farangs who come to Thailand, behave badly and then blame the country and its lovely people.

Seriously, if this is what you think is suitable behavior – please, stay home. Thailand doesn’t want you and neither do the law-abiding farangs living here or visiting here.

Farangs are guests in Thailand and should respect the customs of Thailand whether or not one agrees with them. If this is difficult for some people then stay at home or go to Magaluf.

Much ado about nothing, IMO, but Aussie girls can certainly be obnoxious, especially after they’ve had a few. I think that in some countries it’s considered an honor to kill a quantity of them.

I totally agree with the writer, the woman is a disgrace, got to back the Thai’s on this one! I now see that she has had an application for an American visa turned down.
Now she cant take her daughters on a ‘life time’ trip to Disney, with the money she made from selling her story.
Her daughters must be proud of their mum?

YES, That sort of behaviour is why so many MEN leave the big-mouthed big-assed dominating arrogant white “women” wanne-be-men in australia and especially nz for the sweet caring, loving asian women. Her behaviour is unfortunately echoed occasionally by men tourists also who, like her, most likely gain no respect in their home country but on visiting countries like thailand are shown courteous respect ( albeit false and only for their money) and this respect goes to their head and the tourists forget their true irrevelant position in society and allow the demonic brainless arrogance to come to the surface.

Running from the police is never a good idea, particularly in a foreign country, as it makes the runner look guilty. No surprise then to see the police treating her this way.

The story of another Australian in Thailand draws parallels. The guy ate two doughnuts before paying for them in a 7-11 – hardly a good idea. http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,25525480-5014090,00.html?from=communities.

When the police are called the man does a runner, and it caught found and accused of stealing. Even if he intended to pay, doing a runner is an admission of guilt and he ends up with law.

I thought this woman’s actions were disgraceful. As a fellow Australian they embarrass me. Such people are fools who believe foreign laws do not apply to them. Its a subtle form of racism. I can do what I like in your country because your laws do not apply to me. I can steal or be abusive because I believe myself to be superior in some sense. Bunk.

I lived in Thailand for 8 years 1979-1987. I don’t appreciate my fellow countrypeople not respecting Thailand and its people. The Thai are very tolerant people but, of course, like anyone, they do not like being disrespected.
